After looking at the pictures I believe it is definitely not a M38A1. The front fenders are flat so maybe it is a M#^ Tub. . However, the cowl does not have a compartment for a battery on the driver's side. It could be a M38 Bucket replacement bought on the market place according to some Jeep stores ...

Identification of Jeep M38
What I believe to be a 1952 M38 has no compartment for two 12 V batteries in the cowl. No compartment on the passenger side. Did all 1952 M38's have a battery compartment in the cowl. Help!
