Welcome Kim,

It might help if you post your location. Carefully note the location of any holes in the back and on the outside of the body. Those can frequently be matched up to the type of antennas and radio racks that they had installed and can be a big clue in determining in determining what was ...

Suggestions about how to ship a large object??? (Jeep seat)

I need to ship a jeep seat from Nevada to Florida and the usual shipping services either won't do it or want a King's ransom. Does anyone know of a company that will ship something that large at anything even approximating reasonable rate?

My 1952 USMC M38A1 seems to be mostly unmolested and on it, the connector is mounted so that the two pin sockets are below the center of the connector. The pin socket toward the front of the vehicle is positive and the rear one is grounded. When routed through the firewall, the positive cable is ...

Nice write up. thanks for posting it. What model pump in that? I spotted some differences between it and my 4096. For one thing mine doesn't have a screen in it. Perhaps it's supposed but it's not there. Also TM9-1828A figure 58 shows that there's supposed to be TWO screens in the pumps, one on the ...

Do you recall it's location around the steering column?

No, I've heard but don't recall exactly where. I've never seen it done, AFIK Florida has never done anything like that and the ones that I've heard of were from places like Montana and Oregon. I think most of the DMV ones started with ...

I can't read what it says in the picture. Can you post the text? If it's around the steering column then my guess is that it's a replacement vechicle ID that was put on by the DMV of one of the states.

Wes,

Now that I know that the complete part number was 5594069 I went searching for that and I found this http://z4.invisionfree.com/CJ3B_Bulletin_Board/ar/t2810.htm . In it, you and several other people listed some other part numbers for AC fuel pumps used in the jeeps. I think I saw at least ...

FYI with some photo editors such as Gimp and Photoshop you can adjust the "quality" of JPG image files before you save them. The "quality" settings controls how much the editor will compress the file and for most uses you can set the quality pretty low before the effect becomes noticeable in the ...

Thanks for pointing out those numbers and the list, Wes! That makes things clearer. I'd only found one PN (8720570 ) for the pump in picture 3-2 and hadn't seen the ones buried on page 82 and 83. Do you know if there's anything that describes the differences in the various pumps? The bottom of page ...

M38A1 fuel pump w/ Priming Lever

this discussion started under the Auction section but I thought it would be better if it was brought over to the Technical section.

Wes,

IIRC you said that there was a MWO to remove the priming lever. If so, can you post a copy of it? I picked up a used M38A1 fuel pump today and it has a brass ...

Thanks once again Wes! Mine was a USMC vehicle so it did have the fording equipment. I wonder if Willys put metal tubing in USMC Jeeps in place of the rubber? It definitely looks factory, all of the bends are nice and smooth and the tube is covered with that braided cloth covering that was commonly ...

Hey Ron,

I went and looked up your auction and I found that the same seller had another of these but W/O the adapters. He had a BIN price so I grabbed it!

Can you make a scan or a copy of the paperwork and send me a copy (or have Wes post it on this site)?

Don't those handles require two more links inside the pump in order to work? I rebuild one MANY years ago and IIRC the regular pump had one link but the pump with the priming handle used three. (I tried to find a good exploded view of the pump w/ lever but couldn't.) The pump would also have to have ...

I took one of the late model switches apart and it also looked like this. Getting it apart was difficult enough but there was NO hope for the internals. :-(
