Long term storage.

So I recently found out I'm having to go overseas for at least two years for my job. Of course I'll need to place the M38 in "storage". Anyway as I get ready to do that just wanted to see what I should do to get her ready for a long sleep. She'll be in a climate controlled garage while I'm away and ...

Wes thanks, yeah it looks like they dropped the tailgate and added the box. Good idea for more storage.

Interesting M38 Radio Jeep photo...

I recently purchased the below photo. What interested me was the large (I assume) radio on the back of this M38. There is no writing on the back of the photo. I also assume this is Germany some time in the early to mid-1950s. The one Soldier on the right, walking towards the camera, looks like he ...

Yes of course it would have been easier to call John but I as a man, as a matter of pride or ignorance (neither one being a good thing for sure) do not initially ask for directions or help and just fiddle or ponder things until I become so frustrated I usually give up (for at least for an hour or ...

Wes, thanks for the tip. I guess "tearing out the dash out" was a bit too aggressive sounding.

As for the part John only has it as "Dash Wire Guard" under the Home>M38>Electrical System on his new webpage. $25.00, Product Code: 8673981. He also notes " MWM reproduction part. As good as the OE part ...

Here is a quick shot of what I got from Midwest. I'll tear the dash out this weekend and try to see how it fits. Thanks for the help.

Dash Wire Guard Installation

I just purchased a dash wire guard for my M38 from Midwest Military. The problem is I have no idea how to install it. I couldn't find much on this guard going through other posts. Does any one have photos or diagrams how to install it?

Thanks...

I think I going to go with the pertronix pointless ignition in my M38, part # MV-141A. When I look through the pertronix catalog, one of the footnotes mentions "not for use with solid core spark plug wires". I have original type spark plug wires in my M38, so I assume these are solid core? If so ...

Brain, thanks for the reply. I guess I may have over exaggerated the rate that I'm going through points and condensers. Its been about a year or less on the points. I got frustrated as I was out driving around Saturday and the engine running got worse and worse and she finally died on me before I ...

Choosing best pointless ignition for M38

So I am thinking of converting my 1951 M38, original 24 volt, to an pointless ignition system. I've sifted through all the posts here and see that there are a few types of pointless ignition systems. Just wanted to see what the consensus is. Thanks in advance for the help.

The drop in with no ...

Proper Mounting of Mt-299 with VRC-10

So I'm about ready to mount my Mt-299 with VRC-10 (RT68 and PT112) in my M38. I've been looking for detailed photos of mounted units and they are limited. Before I started drilling holes in the fender, I just wanted to make sure everything looks correct. The photos below are the mount with radio ...
