Hey Ron, that's what I was leaning towards. Most resto's I see are OD.
I just sandblasted and cleaned the hitch up, and gave it a coat of POR-15. It's so pretty in black right now, I thought it worth a check, ha.
The flag is a perfect addition to the Flight Line jeep!
Back to painting,
Jeff

Pintle Hitch: OD Green or Black?
Checked all the paint ref charts and descriptions I know of, and searched Millers books and his posts, but it's hard to determine OD from Black on a B+W photo!
Did it leave the factory black or OD green?
Thanks, Jeff

Horse - there were many jeeps that were shipped to NATO countries and sold there and many spares scattered all over the UK and Europe. Search on Google and Flea Bay and ye shall find.

Ah, Horse didn't see that your were a Yorkshireman! My USA based sources are maybe not of a lot of use. I would probably pay the additional freight to get NOS parts into the UK, as there is so much junk out there. I think Novak will ship overseas and the Small Part kits are light weight.

If you go to the effort of rebuilding it, determine which gears you may need to replace, and start looking for NOS parts on Flea Bay and other sources. The older USA manufactured parts are better metal, with the proper hardness, and fit up as they should. There are some good deals out there... Pay ...

On my 1951 M38 I have the little "drain shoot" in the rear of the tool box, as shown in Ron's photo, which somewhat misaligns with the hole in the rear floor riser to create a little pocket where water could accumulate until it rose high enough to flow out the vertical drain hole. A classic spot I ...

Help ID this Top Bow please
I got a pile of parts when I bought my M38. I am happy to report that I am getting close to actually driving mine, and am working on the interior and top.
In the pile I pulled out a serviceable looking top bow comprised of two side pieces with swinging arm (left and right), and two curved top bows ...

I bought two shovels to get a fit.... The first from K-W. I think it is an ADA-OMIX unit. An almost straight "neck" and not even a close fit. A real POS. It was painted an incorrect shade of green, too. How can a jeep business get it so wrong?

Ron, to answer your questions, I bought my windshield glass from Walck's and it is clearly laminated glass, but there is no specific marking specifying that it is automotive safety glass. It was nicely cut, and fit up well in the frame. I used his gasket as well.

Turn Signal mystery...
Wes, your recent picture post of a turn signal switch reminded me that I have always had a question regarding the sliding plastic piece on the back side of the stalk... what is it's function?
