Don’t forget American Bantam won the original contract for what became known as the Jeep, but being so small a company Willys and Ford were tasked with producing them as well.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an AB jeep restored or saved anywhere.

Tim,
Thank you for the follow-up.

It’s mind-blowing that a rebuilder would not check and clean the pickup screen, but your update reminds all of us that assuming something can be a serious mistake.

Thanks again, and enjoy!

Hi Ryan,
I totally understand the limitations and work load.

But I value very highly the organic and fluid conversations and postings between members and the knowledge imparted.

A static website would take away a very valuable communication tool which I find incredibly helpful.

Sometimes one has to quietly ease away and call it a win, or at best a tie.

It works that way with hand grenades and wives..

Your M38 came with the YS637 and that’s what is in it now?

Sounds like your metering rod is too short.
Should be the lower one in Wes’ post?

They are nowhere aerodynamic. Exhaust fumes probably being pulled forward from the rear while moving down the road.

You’ve seen the fancy fairings on the rear of big rig trailers? They are designed to reduce the air being sucked into the rear of the trailer creating drag. Same suction on the jeep ...

Hi Ryan,
Did I mention to you the Machinist website I’m on?

Chaski?

http://www.chaski.org/homemachinist/

It’s a closed member list like this one, that public can see, but not post or contact members unless they belong.

Lots of photos and video capacity.

No cost to members, but donations are ...

You can cut out a pattern for the beads from hardwood, and hand form with the sheet laying on top. Think about tracing a pattern with a sheet of paper on top, brushing lightly with a pencil.

Using a ball peen you can get the outside edges of the depressed area delineated. Then continue to work the ...

Unfortunately I think we lost Bretto a while ago. He had some really good restoration photos as well as measurements for parts he fabricated.

It would be a shame to lose the good stuff.

Even backing up the as-is site as a view only site for reference and moving to a different one for fluid data would be very helpful.

I can even begin to guess how many times I’ve searched subjects and viewed posts and photos.
