Thanks Wes and Kendal!

Looks like the Jeep in question is a "frank'n-Jeep'...

M38 frame serial number tag?

Did the M38 have a small tag on the front frame horn, mine doesn't have it? I just had someone send me a picture of on that was buried behind his snow plow sub-frame. The number stamped on it is MB38xxxx... I'm confused! Could he have a MB frame under his M38 body? The serial number is 6 digits long ...

Ron, that's a great drawing! It wouldn't be hard to make that panel other than the raised bead lines (I don't have a bead roller).

Thanks for sharing!

Just to be clear, you're looking for one dash blackout light that mounts in the instrument cluster panel, right? If that's what you need I'll look through my stash and see if I can help.

Wes, the drums are brand new and I've had them turned twice to insure they were true/round. I've had three sets of shoes to see if different makers had different stopping quality. All three sets were contoured to fit the drum. None of this helped. If backing up on a slight down hill grade it can be ...

Thanks for the reply Wes! Yes the Jeep is all bone stock except that it was converted to 12v by the fire company to run the emergency equipment (lights, siren and radio etc.). I haven't weighted the Jeep yet...maybe this spring when it warms up. It might be 1000# overweight without water in the 50 ...

Wes, The Jeep in question is my over weight Fire Jeep. I can drive it, but it's not fun when in heavy traffic. I've been driving antique vehicles since my first car in 1972 (1948 Dodge 4-door sedan) and have been working/restoring them since the beginning, so I understand the limitations of the old ...

Need better brakes on my 1953 M38A1

After a 4+ year restoration on my 1953 M38A1 Fire Jeep I'm now driving it and have come to the conclusion that it needs help stopping...the 9" brakes aren't getting the job done.

So my question is, has anyone installed Herm's Hydrovac unit and how do you like it?

Should I consider the 11" brake ...

Mine measures 4.75"...measured on the back side of the riser, the front side will be a little longer as it rests on the slope of the frame rail.

Hope this helps!

Another simple thing to check is the fuel filter if you have one...if it's partially clogged it will make the Jeep buck and kick as it gets fuel and looses fuel.
