Wanted: Steering column and shaft for M38-1952, or late CJ2A
I'm cutting off the worm gear, so the condition of the gear doesn't matter.
Thanks

TRANSFER Shift Knob MODIFICATION
I installed an Advance Adapter Overdrive in my 1952 M38. I want to replace the provided knob that threads on the shifter, with the traditional small round Willys transfer case lever shift knob. To do this, I will have to drill a larger hole and tap new threads in the Willys knob. It looks like the ...

Transfer case + Overdrive gear lube amount
1952 M38. I just added an Satrn Overdrive. I have put 1 quart and 20 ounces of gear lube after draining and installing the OD, and the lube is still not overflowing out of the fill access, which I thought was how you were supposed to know it was full. What am I doing wrong? Is this normal?
Thank You

Advance Adapters -Saturn Overdrive
I mentioned this in another post, but it bears repeating. I purchased a Saturn Overdrive unit, made by Advance adapters, for my 1952 M38, from Summit Racing. I had some technical questions so I called Summit. Meh. I ended up calling Advance Adapters 3 times, and each time, I got very helpful ...

Overdrive question (Another)
Did the military ever put overdrives into M38's or M38 A1's? I am assuming that they are a recent aftermarket product. I just installed a Saturn unit from Advance Adapters. I hate to have something that is not original-ish, but I enjoyed having one on my former M38.
By the way, I called Advance ...

Cutting hole in Fllor plate for overdrive shifter
I bought an overdrive last year, and am finally going to install it. I understand that I will have to cut a hole in the transmission/shifter/lfoor plate. I am trying to find an illustration or photo of what sort of hole I am going to have to cut.
Appreciate any help!

Thanks for your response. The crescents have been cut off. Top Bows are much happier.

Top Bow meets Tire carrier. Tire carrier is in the way.
1952 M38
I borrowed the top bow from my M38 A1. Seems like it should lay down on the rails and tailgate , but the tire carrier has a protrusion at the top that blocks the top bow. (See photo).
All I can think of is that I need some spacers at the top of the tire carrier, or the M38 A1 top bow is ...

M38 Air cleaner - Buy used or repro?
M38 Air cleaner - Buy used or repro?
I have had mixed quality with some of the repro parts I have purchased.
My M38 is not for shows, etc., so I am not worried about getting points knocked off for non-original equipment. (If they do that).
Opinions are welcome.
Thanks

Battery/Batteries for M38
I want to replace the battery in the cowl on my M38. Consumer reports has always liked the EverstartMaxx batteries which Walmart carries. Though not wedded to that brand, I am hoping I can find one. Obviously, the first consideration is physical size. So I will take a tape measure. What is the next ...
