I thought they were all 8-digits by then (before they switched to the 2A XXXX format).
You sir are spot on! Which is why I wanted to ask! The number is 20948881. Three 8s instead of two.

Does this hood number sound plausible?

September 1952 production M38A1 serial 17490. The Hood with original number is 2094881. It is original paint on the hood showing below several layers....as with any jeep of this age the hood could have been a swapped but just checking to see if this hood number sounds about right before I order ...

Deep Water kit. M38 vs M38A1

Does anyone know the differences between a deep water kit for a m38 and M38a1? I found a NOS M38 kit but I have a M38A1. I can't find the parts in the ORD-9 to compare. and I can't find a copy of TM-9-2853.

From picks online the parts generally appear similar with only a minor difference in how ...

I believe I will go with Coker/Firestone/McCreary tires.

I need the feedback on the collective...quickly. Coker is at the Fall Hershey ACAA show with tires they have at the show 10% off and I would pickup so there would be no shipping. They have both 7.00-16 NDCC and NDT.

For 4 tires= tax OTD ...

Tires.....

What are you doing for tires on your M38A1?
Stock were 7.00 x16 ndcc correct.

Options I see...
6.00x16 nec for sale at just over around $120 or so
7.00x 16 necc McCreary (Firestone repop) for $230 a tire
There seems to be 7.50x16 speedway ( mad in India) tires for $120 each
The there are other ...

T90 inspection before action?

The T90/D18 in my 1952 M38A1 is "tired." I say that in the fact that the transmission pops out of second gear, it is difficult to shift into first gear when decelerating ( to a creeping speed-not fast). Additionally when I got the jeep the tail shaft for the transfer case was not shimmed well ...

What wipers do you have on it now?
Which side will you use the new one on?

Good luck!

What wipers do I have.....lol...well i am not totally sure; they are custom. I am cheap. The arms were from a $1 table at a general antique car swap meet.; they were too long so I cut them down and reshaped ...

I am trying to keep the jeep fairly original. While not all parts on the jeep are NOS/factory some are reproduction or original style ( not OEM).

The reason why I ask is more of asking for forgiveness rather than permission. I purchased a reasonably priced ( I think) SK527-22 on ebay yesterday ...

Wiper motor...which is the correct one?

What is the correct part number for the wiper motor for a M38A1? I see the main PN is SK527 however I see several variants. SK527-16, SK527-2, SK527-22, etc? The last digit(s) appear to change, I don't see this clearly defined in the ORD-9. All of the motors externally appear to externally similar ...

Side curtin interchange?

I have a M38A1 with a canvas summer top. While I don't need a enclosed cab I want to keep my eyes open if I see the doors or curtains come up for sale at a swap meet or on-line.

Will the side curtains for an M38A1 interchange with any other jeeps? IE MB/GPW or M38's?
