Thanks! I am learning as I go. My jeep was in pretty good shape - I drove it around town for a bit before I took it apart.

Looks like we are on similar paths, although you are a little ahead of me. I haven't gotten to the trans or x-fer yet. I am sure I will need help when I get there!

Bucky, I haven't run into that (yet, knock on wood), but if I did, I would take out all of the removable parts to get to a bare housing and take to a machine shop and have it hot tanked to clean it out.

Canvas Color for USMC Jeeps

Was the color of the canvas for the seats, top, and straps the same for Army Jeeps and USMC Jeeps, or were there differences?

This part wasn't what you needed?:
Dwg 2:

A - 32.5
B - 39.5

I added the following:

C - 3 (Inside radius of bend in bow tubing at top of bows - same on both)
D - 25.75 (End of bow to ctr of hole for top bow rod on outboard side of short bow)
E - 0.375 (Top bow rod hole diameter)

Need Help Identifying Springs

I received three spring packs with a buch of parts when I bought my jeep. They don't measure to be M38A1 front springs (a little too short). Can anyone identify these? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first two have 12 leaves and have 809269 on them and measure 37 15/16 and 38 inches ...

Bucky, I am working on it now (front axle - rear axle is next), although I am not changing out all of my bearings, mainly replacing seals. I am putting my front axle back together over the next few weeks and will post pics, etc. on my blog (see address in my sig below).

Where are you located?

I think you need to take it to a machine shop - I think it is a press fit. The new bushing will need to be reamed to fit your output clutch shaft.
