Original steel is 18 ga, however it is hard to get and expensive so go with 16 ga...

Easier to get and will last longer...

That is what I did when I redid mine.... or buy new quarter panels, shop around for the best deal...

Hope this helps

Here's my 53 M38A1 project. I got rockers, floor pans, and a rear floor riser from Classic Enterprises. They also sell hat channel kits which I will probably get as well. I'm no body man, but with patience, a spot weld cutter, chisel and hammer, and a hobby mig welder the rewards are amazing.

Kaiser Willys and Army Jeep parts make complete repair panels. The rear desk I got from Kaiser Willys was very well made. They addeed more supports to stiffen it and added oak inserts. The center support needs 2" cut off each side to clear the mounts.
Army Jeep parts makes complete fronts with supports and pre drills and supported for mounting on the frame.
Not sure how to post pictures or I could show the before and after to you.

Panels

To bad you did not check out our panels before you bought Classic's. Ours are formed better with all the correct fastener hardware already in place. Hat channels are formed with offsets and theirs aren't. A lot easier to install and no hammer chisel work.

John,
I bought much for mine from midwest, kaiser, surplus, brett mullins.
You guys offer good stuff. I have bought nothing from classic. their prices are 10-20% higher than most.
