M38 windshield blocks

What are the dimensions of the M38 windshield hood blocks

1 inch X 4 inches X 1 13/16 inches (or 1 3/4 inches)

White oak, painted OD 2430

How far from the edge of the hood should they go? Seems that if you center the bolt holes with the 4" block, the top channel barely hits the block.

Knowing the block dimensions you can determine the distance from the front edge of the hood.
