Apologies!! previously submitted this question under "Articles" Sorry Wes!!
Currently restoring a 51 M38 down-under in Australia with none of original hood numbers displayed.
Serial no is MC 11116 and possibly a Feb/Mar 1951 build date. Note previous corrospondence regarding hood numbers and that seven (7) numbers should be displayed on hood for this year release. Could someone please advise what hood numbers they would be?
Many thanks.

Col,
We do not enjoy the detailed contract vs registration numbers data that the WWII jeep guys have. We can only develope a close match using the original hood numbers discovered vs the serial number they were found on. With that in mind your hood number would be in the 236XXXX range unless it is not contract number W-20-089-ORD-4758.
The standard procedure for fabricating a hood number when the original is unknow is to use the first three or four digits you suspect it to be combined with the jeeps serial number. This way down the road in time when a researcher is examing hood numbers it will be obvious that your's was a contrived number.
