Good with the bad

Post by idiocrates »

Its been one of those weeks.......earlier, Monday, I discovered my rear dana 44 differential was toast. Worn out completely........but the front dana 25 was in excellent shape. So I guess that was a push but still, that's going to be a costly repair and one I hadn't anticipated.

On the lighter side, today I got two good bits of news.....deliveries actually......but darn glad to get them anyway. Here's the first one.....totally missing from my engine and possibly the reason I had an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator installed in-line as well as a likely culprit for the demise of my camshaft fuel pump lobe....this is the 9/16" spacer that installs between the m38a-1 fuel pump and the engine block.
Wonder if the next guy would mind if I epoxy it to the block this time??

The next item received was the correct slip yoke for my front propeller shaft. I reported last week that I was confused because after reuilding my front axle and transfer case apparently my drive shaft had shrunk because it was now too short. Mr. K said I had the wrong slip yoke for an m38a-1......and it looks like the man was correct. There's a whole 1" difference in the length of these two slip yokes. Wanna take a guess which one this jeep had when I got it....and which one is the correct one? Mystery of the shrinking propeller shaft.....solved!

Sooooo.......on we go. I think I've just about found everything......hahahaha.....not!

Jim,
Looks like you've got this resto thing figured out! Painful, expensive, bad times and good times.
