Brake light stuck on...

Post by linx310 »

I installed a new brake light switch about a week ago.

When I went to try it out today the brake light doesnt turn off unless I pull up on the brake pedal and the light will go off. Its almost as if the weight of the pedal alone causes it to come on.

I hope the switch isn't defective because these switches are expensive.

Maybe I should adjust the brake play on the master cylinder push rod?

Could it air in the brake lines cause this?

you might have a weak return spring,if you can pull up the brake pedal.

Pull your manual out and check the free travel adjustment of your brake pedal. If that adjustemnt is withing tolerance then you have an overly sensitive switch and I would return it.
