Generator adjusting arm...

Post by CJ3B »

Hello Guys:

I got to install my generator today... #@$%@, was that a heavy mother and difficult 1-man job!

Now, my question. Is the top-adjusting bracket (arm) for the M38 the same as civilians? I ask, since I have no adjustment space (play?) for the generator; it is almost touching the oil-fill tube, and the generator is on the end of the arm.

I'm looking at the arm, and think it's too short. Also, I was looking at the screw/fastener listing from yahoo groups website, and the arm seems longer, with a slight bend.

Anyone have an extra adjusting arm that can spare?

Thanks!
Regards to All,

Jorge

Yes, the Civilian arm and the miltary are different for the generator adjusting bracket.

I took the bolt file of the yahoo storage site as it was too big and we wanted to put some other files up for the time being.

As for locating a bracket, if nobody on the board has an extra, try John Bizal at midwest military, you can find his website easily with a google search.

I hope this helps and good luck! :)

Please look at the photo in the link below. I am not sure if I have the right bracket for the belt adjustment to be used with the 24 volt generator on the M38. I put some measurements on it if that would help you. I would like to solve this before I get ready to install the generator.
thanks
Ken

Ken,

that looks more like the correct bracket. I will have to find mine and measure it to be sure.

Ok Ryan, I am a good ways off from installing yet. I wanted to make sure I had the right bracket when the time came to mount it. This jeep had a 12 volt alternator on it.
