bridge plate numbers

Post by toolmanm203 »

I am going to paint a newer bridge plate for my m38 until I can find a correct early one and have bought the paint for it at the mta show. someone at the show mentioned that one of the guys on the board makes the proper red and black numbers for this application but couldn't remember who so does anyone know or should I just go to one of those instant sign shops? I would like to hear what you guys have done on yours and your opinions on this. thanks russ

I agree that they did normally have them. I think some units put them on though. I have seen photos with them mounted. It is up to you.

Bridge Plate Numbers

Just another $0.02. . . I saw an MB with a "2" plate on it the other day. I am just wondering what they were thinking?
I SWEAR it said Tab A went into Slot B!

Bridge plates are like M2 machine guns on an M38. You'll be hard pressed to find a period photo of an M38 with either. Yes someone will always find the odd prototype like XM-38C with a recoiless rifle.

But just like water buckets and tool kits and gas cans they are a legitimate accessory and the choice is the owner's.
