What is this bracket for?

Post by Jake266 »

There is a bracket under the dash on the right side that hangs down from a box and looks like it should connect to a screw or something but there's nothing along the frame to connect it to. Can anyone advise what this should be connected to?

Most likely that bracket held the first aid kit.

Too funny, today I found this bracket while searching through parts my dad took off of his M38 years ago...was just about to post a pic and ask what it is, so I could put it back where it belonged, then I saw this post.

Wes, your pic put me on the holes where it mounts. Your knowledge is impressive! Glad I found this site!

Wes,
Again you come through with a photo and explanation for me. Thanks!
I'll check today and see what parts are missing to make this complete.
Appreciate all the time and info you have supplied to help me with this project..

Just a reminder to all those who are wondering about parts for their M38's - buy a copy of the "M38 Reference Guide" by Ryan Miller (as advertised on the main page of this website). A Great book with many contributors (including WesK, aka Cuz), a lot of research and knowledge went into the contents! It is not a rebuilders guide but a great pictoral guide to the various versions of the M38 and the parts that each contained. The first aid bracket is there and a whole bunch more. When I got my copy I spent an enjoyable afternoon poking around my Jeep with the book in hand saying to myself; "a-ha that's what that is", "that's what that's for" and "now where am I gonna find that part". Enjoy
