M170 Parking brake bracket

Post by rdsar2k »

Well boys and girls I am in need again. I was installing my parking brake on the M170 and ran into another M170 only situation with the cable bracket; it don't have one and neither does my other one. It sure needs on as there is no place to secure the cable.
If you have one or know where to get one or have a picture of one I would deeply apprecaite it. I will need one now and another eventually.
It is in the top picture where it says clamp. It mounts on the transfer case cover.

Bracket

Post by ocwd »

I have a bog box of misc brackets and junk. It's unlikely that I have this bracket but, you never know. I went on a parts run a while back that was mostly M38A1 parts so your bracket may be lying at the bottom of my box of goodies. Can you please enlarge the top drawing so I can see what this bracket looks like?

Clamp

Post by ocwd »

Are you dead set on a used original? That looks like a fairly common clamp. I'll check to see if I have any.

bracket

It's not the clamp I need but the bracket that bolts to the transfer case cover that the clamp screws into. I have the clamp on the cable. And hey I sincerely appreciate you even looking in your stash of goodies. these kind of parts hunts are beginning to become tiresome. Every time I think I've got it all one of these special M170 only parts pops up and I search for months. If no body has anything I'll cobble up something to make it work.
Just went thu this with seat pans. Had to have it computer modeled and cut out on a water jet machine. I made up 5, 4 for my M170's and 1 for a M170 drivers seat spare that I'm tying to sell. Made them from a rusty sample on one of my jeeps. Stopped me in my tracks on the apolstry as I didn't want to use wood;I would have bothered me until I made it right. I understand my personal obsessions. It's a rule of three that I had heard some where. If there are more than three things wrong with your vehicle you will start to consider it a heap and want to sell it. So I try and do it right so I won't start to look at my baby with a wandering eye.
