Glove box lock

Post by Oldsalt »

Can anyone tell me if the glove box latch on the M-38A1 is the same one as on the MB - GPW? I can find a listing for the earlier jeeps but haven't found one with any of the usual vendors for the M38A1. They look pretty similar in the pics that I've seen.

Thanks

Hey thats cool, thanks John.

I notice that the parts list on your site says it is keyed. Is that normal for this jeep? I've never seen mention of a keyed glove box latch before.

And while I'm asking. While I was browsing your parts list, I saw mention of a "M series 12v Coil". Is that a coil that will fit inside the waterproof distributor?

Latch

The latches are made by the original company, but they only make them keyed now. Believe me, we have tried to get them to make them without keys, and no go.
12V coils are all gone now.

Thats good to know. Thanks for the info. I'll contact you soon about a latch.

Too bad about the coils. The jeep I'm working on still has the waterproof distributor but is converted to 12v and has a coil wire running through the removable plug in the cap to supply spark to the rotor. So I'd really like to get my hands on one of those 12v coils. Any chance you'll ever get any more??

Thanks again.

glove box latch

PM me if interested in original non-keyed for M38. I can look this weekend.

I have been looking for 30 years for an original keyed early GPW latch.

Is the latch the same for the M-38 as for the M-38A1?
