Installing Radios in my M38

Post by bubagun »

I am installing the VRC12 radio setup in my M38. I have the Bendix three prong female power cable for a radio hookup already, an IKEE, (Installation Kit Electrical Equipment). WHAT will fit this plug and power my MT 1029/VRC shock mount.. Which my radio will mount to? I know there are cables out there that will plug into this and then plug into my MT 1029 base. Anybody? No radio heads here?

Contact Fair Radio. They have just about anything you want at reasonable prices. I've found stuff that you wouldn't think existed with them. 8O John

If you were lucky enough to get a VRC12 installation kit designed for the M38/M38A1 the radio mount would have came with the correct cable.

Here is an excellant links page:

You can download a 4 manual set for your VRC-12 here:

You should have this drawing for the VRC-8, -9, -10 installations in the MC and MD jeeps. It shows the cord for that setup which should also work with your VRC-12 rig.

I found the proper power cable. Now... I need to either find/buy/make, one of these:

If you search this board you'll find the drawings I posted up several times for that antenna mount AB449G.
