Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how the cowl battery box is attached at its top rim, on a M38A1? Is it spot welded in around rim? I can't see any welds, but I have all the bolts and brackets out and it is still not coming loose. I don't want to destroy it, but I'd really like to get it out as there seems to be quite a bit of rust on the firewall behind the box and I 'd like to clean it up and paint it.
Thanks
Cowl battery box

Exactly the same as the M38. Spot welds every 4 to 6 inches,

I just looked closely at one I removed some time ago. The spotwelds are more like one every 2 to 4".

Yes, thats what I found. 2 to 4 inches. The spacing was not real consistent. I finished getting mine out a little while ago. I'm going to have a bit of work to do on it if I'm going to put it back in. It has no bottom and the battery racks are completely corroded to bits.
I'm glad I pulled it out though. There is an area of the firewall that looks like it will have pin holes once I clean up all the corrosion. I'll have to patch that area.
Thanks again.

Box
We make a complete cowl battery box. The bottom is also available separately if needed.

Hello John,
Although I used an M38 photo as an illustration the box in question was the M38A1 box. Are you now making a complete A1 box?
