Where to get headlight bucket small parts???

Post by Jordan »

I am rebuilding a civilianized M-38, converted to 12 volt. There are alot of small parts associated with the headlight bucket. Where does a guy find these parts---and instructions on reassembling the bucket? Also, where are 12 volt sealed beam units available from?

Thanks,

Jordan

Check out the diagram on page 114 of the ORD 9 SNL G740, available for download for free here (5th link down):

Most of the vendors will stock these parts, and you see some on the worldwide flea market (Ebay) from time to time.

Not sure about the sealed beams. My M38 had 12V units fitted when I bought it, but not sealed beams. I'm going to be fitting 24V H4 halogen bulbs into them, and they have sidelights in there too. Means I can use the original grille marker lights as my turn signal indicators.........

Jordan,

Most of the headlamp bucket/door parts are the same for most M series trucks built during the 50's/60's/ in the 70's the rubber Packard connectors began the slow switch in some parts.

You don't list your location in your profile so I have no idea what state or country you are in so I can't help with sourcing the 12 volt sealed beams.
