M38 clutch and brake levers: forged or cast? Weldable?

I did a slight body lift on my M38 (somewhat civilianized). As a consequence, I need to lengthen the clutch and brake levers. If they are forged, then they are weldable. If they are cast, then welding will be problematic. Anyone know whether they are cast or forged?
