Grease slingers...

Post by army_inc »

I was just wondering if these went bad. I have been told by a guy that they don't. Doesn't make that true, but I haven't seen anything telling me otherwise either. It just seems that it keeps the grease off of the brakes and diverts them out of the wheel entirely. Any thoughts? Also, where can I buy these? I ordered a bunch of parts, but forgot that one.... If they don't really go bad, I don't need them, if they do, then I'll have to wait until my next order. Just figured I'd ask first.

Are you referring to PN 7697464 slinger at the outboard end of the rear axle?

It is seldom damaged. It does not move. It is actually a deflector and should the oil seal in the tube fail or over greasing of the bearing occurs it helps keep the leaking oil or grease from being slung by the rotating axle against the shoes.
