Did Kevin Emdee @ Star Electric ever offer a 24 volt PC board for the M38 Autolite voltage regulators?

I have seen them for the WWII regulators but not for the M38/M38A1 regulators. I imaging it would not be that difficult to move the guts from a transistorized regulator into the old narrower Auto-lite regulator.

Many commercial and emergency vehicles today use modern transistorized voltage regulators and they are 24 volt. I would bet a good automotive electrician could locate a correct model compatible with the type of field control used on the stock 24V / 25A generator. Those regulators would be much smaller the GI transistor regulator built by VapAir.

My personal #1 mod choice for electrical power on M series vehicles is the old reliable 2 wire internally regulated 60 amp military alternator. Is almost identical in weight and size to the stock 24V 25A generator, mounts in the same brackets and eliminates 4 pounds of regulator. Keeps the jeep motor pool class original and definately keeps the battery charged!
If I want a nice reliable daily driver 24 volt m jeep or truck with a reasonably priced power source then I buy a 24 volt 60 to 100 amp one wire delco alternator, modify the mount and enjoy very modern power at half the price of original and 1/5th of the weight of the original.

Yeah, that 60A alternator is one I would love to have, but unfortunately it is toward the end of my list - they are slightly out of my price range or I have other things I need to put ahead of it.

I spoke with Kevin.
It turns out he is working with a group and they are in the test phase of a 24volt board replacement for the breadbox. At this point there are no promises that it will ever come to market and they need a few months to make decisions. The important thing is that they are giving it a go to try to bring new life to the autolite regulators.

That will be great - new electronics should be a lot more robust than the solid state regulators, and will look all original! Keep us posted.
