M38 Seat Pan Color (see picture)

Post by Brian »

Does anyone know what the seat pan color was for the M38's? I am assuming that they were issued as black but I am not for sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

One of my pans had black paint on it, but I do not believe it was original (different welded nuts, and inferior quality). My original one had Strata Blue on top of two layers of OD (just traces of OD on the inside face of the pan), so I guess they were the same colour as the jeep.

You really don't want all those spring sets, do you?

OD green on my M38 seat pans. And plenty of red rust-dust.

Based on the consensus input and a picture of NOS pans currently on ebay, I will go with OD for restoration.

Thanks for your input.
