I think it has been discussed before but I'll ask again. Both M38s I have had the volt gauge in the dash with 1 connection on the back. The repro harness I have has 2 wires #8 & 9 on it for an Amp gauge. How can I hook up the gauge I have or do I need to find an amp gauge???
Thanks guys
Rick

There are a couple of things you need to be able to hook up those wires...
First you need the older mechanical regulator, it has he shunts required to use tha ammeter... The newer solid state one does not.
Also you will have to install an ammeter... If you have the voltmeters you can use them; just tap the spider harness to supply voltage to the meter. Tape up the ends of the wires for 8 & 9 and you should be good to go... I swapped my 4 wire spider for a 5 wire to allow the voltmeter to be hooked up in my M-38... I got one from VWOM...
Hope this helps...

Hi Wes. I have the mechanical regulator. Have the entire jeep wired with the exception of brake switch harness and horn harness. I had a spare 5 wire spider harness from my M37. Kind of disappointed with the repo harness. For almost 500 bucks you'd think they'd toss in a few plastic connectors.
