You will need to order a matched set (sender and gauge). Any quality aftermarket pair will work so long as the float is set up for the dimensions of your tank or is adjustable to fit your tank.

There are several out there that work. Measure your tank, determine weather you want a left or right hand drop and determine the drop distance. Then select a set from a reputable source. You won't find any that match the opening in the tank and the bolt holes perfectly. You will have a bit of fabrication to do. The reputable sources will list the measurements that their floats are adjustable to.

The fuel gauge relies on the difference in 'pull' between two coils in the meter, unlike the voltmeter and/or ammeter, which rely on the 'pull' of a single coil against a permanent magnet.

I believe, but am not certain, that the existing combination of sender (30-240 ohm) and 24 volt gauge will work with 12v applied.

It's worth a try!

It doesn't work. The gauge will not read the upper lower ranges, empty and full.

I'm doing the same thing and just asked this question a few days. I'm not going totally original so I'm getting an AutoMeter gauge that you can adjust to fit different ohm ranges. They don't look original but you can use the original sender and tank

Buzz,

Nice find. Let us all know how the gauge works out for you and if there are any set-up problems with it.

I was unaware of this gauge's availability but for those of you that are interested here's the gauge, web site and install instructions:

We will see. I'm actually getting the ES series gauges

They are red backlit which will be somewhat like the original gauges

With OD paint on the rim it will fit in with the cluster nicely.
