steering column jacket upper bearing

Post by bl5211a »

Hello - What is the trick to remove the upper bearing from the steering column jacket. I have the jacket off the steering gear assy, but not sure how to get the bearing out.

It sounds brutal, but if the center shaft is out, I used a simple broomstick and persuaded it with a hammer!

X2. I did the same thing recently to get out some of the old cups from the axles for a rebuild.

Go to:

for a picture of the bearing! There are 4 formed sheet metal tabs that are holding it in, just tightly enough to be REALLY annoying.
