Blackout light 12V conversion

Post by leecarr »

I'm sure this has been done a lot of different ways but here is another one that makes the bulb very easy to replace if it blows out. First I uncrimped the reflector and removed the old bulb. After looking at different bulbs an sockets I found this one at the local parts place. The bulb, holder and attached wire was around $4.00, it is just generic and they are easy to find. I made 2 brass tabs to hold it in from the male end of an old cord screwed them in and connected the original wiring. It is very easy to replace if it blows out just remove the 3 screws from the light housing, replace the bulb and put it back together . Once I get it painted I can put the lens back in and re crimp it. This is a fog light bulb and is very bright and if someone just wants an easy to replace bulb it is also available in 24V. Check out my album for some pics. http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... _album.php
