gen/voltage regulator cable

What is the correct way to tighten the cable on the voltage regulator and genarator cable there are two nuts on both ends one goes into the reg and the other goes in the gen if you try to tighten it it twist the cable I dont want to ruin a brand new cable

There should be no "nut" on the cable ends - there should be a freely rotating threaded sleeve that holds the cable onto the regulator or generator. Technically its called a cannon plug.

this cannon plug as you call it. there are two of them one behind each other . The one behind is not tighting up on one end explain !

O K I have a spanner wrench when I tighten one end up its still loose on the the cable that your not supposed to touch buz

It doesn't hurt anything but if you must fool with it you can tighten the sleeve retention nut after you tighten the electrical plug. You must hold the plug while you turn the sleeve retention nut. And you must leave a few thousands gap for the plug to be able to turn freely.

If you get the wrench designed for this part it makes tightening the cable infinitely easier.

You don't need a special wrench to tighten the plug. If you are not intending to submerge the jeep under water then hand tight works just fine. If it won't turn easily with finger pressure then the threads need cleaning or the ring is bent.
