Knuckle Seal Question

I am progressing in my rebuild of my Model 25 front axle. I am working on the knuckle assembly. One of my books about rebuilding talks about polishing the axle housing where the knuckle seal sweeps over the curved surface of the housing. My housing has small pits where there was rust and I am wondering how well the knuckle seal will keep the grease from leaking.

My question is has anybody filled in any of these little pits in the metal or filled in any other defects where the knuckle seal sweeps? If so what did you use to do it?

Any metal base epoxy filler will work. Preferably steel. The smoother the spheres the better the seal.

I found this neat stuff that seems to be doing the trick. It is really cool when it dries it acts just like metal and can be filed or sanded smooth. It has taken about 3 applications of the stuff in thin layers but it has smoothed the housing very well. It's by Alvin and it is called Lab-Metal. I used a paint respirator filter while using it though. Here is the link:
