2A to M38 hood conversion

Post by Bretto »

Just wanted to drop a post to show that a 2A hood can be made to look like a M38 hood.
I didn't want to buy new and felt I'd have a better chance of finding a decent 2A or possibly a 3A. I put out the line for a hood and only one M38 hood was offered along with about 6 2A's. I took the best of the bunch of the 2A hoods. I have to thank RickG for the cutout template. The only real visible difference is the rear 3 piece hat channel, I left that alone. Since it has some original M38 parts, can I say I used the 2A hood to patch my M38's hoods bad spots? :)
There are a bunch more pics on my link. Sorry for such large pics.
Here is my junk original:

It just took me about 7 minutes to download, trim, reduce and load to Brettos Mjeeps photo album the above photos from over 140 K to 25 K file sizes.

There are several things you can do to keep photo sizes to a minimum and use a lot less band width on the web site which costs bucks!

Trim your photo to include only the main object, dropping the parked cars next to it, the table or saw horses and etc.

Reduce it to a reasonable yet viewable size.

Most photo storage sites allow you to select your photos for listing on another web site in three sizes: Thumbnail, 1/2 and full. If the web site you store your photos on does not allow this selection then use your album here on our web site for that purpose.

RickG,
Coold I talk you out of a template please?

Bubba filled mine in with plate and a gallon of Bondo.

I don't want to cut out any more than necessary of the original hood.

Thanks!

I actually sent that off to someone else way over a year ago and in between then and now, another member had me make up one for them. So no, I don't have it. I did, but can't find now, a pic of a that template cutout drawing with a ruler next to it. A printer could be adjusted to print it out so the scaling is that of the ruler. I'll see if I can find it. I suspect its on my thumbdrive, which is not at work with me right now.
