Emergency Brake Cable

Post by 4x4M38 »

I ordered an Emergency Brake Cable from Midwest Military.

Very nice piece, especially compared to the takeoff.
The experts will have to weigh in as to accuracy but if the takeoff is original, John appears to be right on.

Photo is below.

It would be very nice to see a photo of the two laid out straight side by side and a closeup of each of the ends compared flat and side by side.

I can do that Wes, although Bubba fried the brake drum end on the take off.
I have no idea what happened to it, but he had the wire just wrapped around the yoke.

Your photos help a bit but still lack any detailed length comparison or any real close detail of the actual look of the housing (sheath) ends and cable ends.

Hi Wes,
I can get the U clamp off but probably not the yoke.

It looks like the threaded end went the way of the dodo bird, then Bubba stuck what was left through the end of a makeshift yoke, then crimped a cable terminal to the end of it.

The sheath has also been damaged/cut off on one end.

The cable itself may be close, but I'll have to see if I can straighten it on the yoke end. I have no idea how they got the threaded end off.

I'll see what I can do.

That's ok. If she is butchered that far it would not make a good comparison to a new one for determining the accuracy of the new one.
