M38 repro tub pto shifter opening
I purchased a new repro tub for my M38. I am in the process of lining things up for bolting it to the frame. My jeep has a pto shifter. My question is, the new tub has a square opening for the shifter and boot, etc., but what is the small welded bracket next to the square hole, on the drivers side? I have tried to find pictures or info about it, but with no luck. It is a challenge lining everything up, but this bracket right next to the hole, may be in the way if it is not needed. Thank You

from your description it would be for the gas tank strap.

The stock Saturn/Warn OD linkage handle pivot bracket mounts to the front two top bolts on the tranny so that leaves the handle up by the transfer shifters.
Look at page 10 of this Saturn manual.

They do offer a custom pivot mount that mounts further back on the transfer but you should contact them to see where that puts the handle.
Here's the shifter illustration from the Warn Manual.

The pivot bracket, item 5, bolts to the right front corner of the tranny.

A gent over on the CJ2A page made a lever for the PTO opening that controls his overdrive. Its a bit complex though.Hawkshadow wrote:Does anyone know if this opening also works for Herm's overdrives or does it require modification?
