I was looking at the 106 recoil-less rifle and there m79 mounts.
from being on a 106 during my years in service. I know what a m79 jeep mount is and looks like.
but I see some listings for the 106 and m79 mount.
does anyone know the difference is in the m79 jeep mount and what is called the m79 mount

Steve,
Try asking that question again but give us two different things to compare.
The 106 RR with it's M8C .50 Cal spotter rifle and the M79 mount is the M40A1 recoiless rifle weapon system.
Here's a good article: http://www.warboats.org/stonerordnotes/ ... %20r3.html

I'm not sure how to word it but here goes
the 106 rr with it's m8c .50 spotter rifle and the m79 mount from what wes stated is m40a1 recoiless weapon system.
everything the same, But the mount. m79 jeep mount.
There seems to be a difference between a M79 mount and a m79 jeep mount.
and that is what I'm trying to figure out.

I don't know of any. The system can be used in or out of the jeep on the M79 mount. If you read MWO ORD G758-W3 for the M38A1 the weapon system is installed in the jeep as procured from Ordnance.

M38A1C with M40 sytem which uses the M79 mount that can be easily lifted out of the jeep and set on the ground.
Rifle, 106-mm, M40 (T170E1) on mount, 106-mm rifle, M79, w/e and spare parts ORD PN 8403332, ORD Stk # C001-8403332
or
Rifle, 105-mm, M27A1, W/ Mount, 105-mm rifle, M75A1 ORD PN 8412201, ORD Stk # C001-8412201
The M79 mount is the same rollaround mount used on the ground and just sets in the jeep.
The M75A1 mount is the attachment and manuevering part of the mount and it is bolted to two adapter beams installed in the jeep and can only be use on the jeep.
The M38 uses MWO ORD G1-W94 for the installation of either of the same two rifle/mount assemblies.
So according to those two publications both jeeps use the two weapon systems and their mounts un-modified and off the shelf.
I have the illustrations from the M38 manual MWO ORD G1-W94 & the full pages in my photo album: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... _album.php
I have the entire M38A1C MWO in my photo album: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... php&page=1

m39 mount
that is a great photo of the unit. what I was look for the from the tripod base, the is a l shaped section with the wheel on top (or the azimuth)I don't think I spelled that right. anyway.I was if it could be separated there. to mount on a m274 mule. maybe best said looking for the best of both worlds. I wanted to be able to remove the top half on mount from the jeep mount and place it on some type of mule mount. It has been so many years ago I forgot how the darn thing was put together. I am finding it would have to separate it right at the point the barrel is bolted to the mount.
the 106 wasn't bad to clean but that darn 50 was a pain. The gunner had to sit right on that left mount leg and if you had to move out it was hard on the back side. I'm still trying to figure out if it brings back good memories or bad, but I sure get a kick out seeing them again.

It would be easier to adapt the M75A1 mount to the mule.
