Finished original springs

Post by Tembek »

Wes, Joe, everyone, thanks for the help. Here are my finished springs. Some handy data to check springs for sag, or to help a spring shop re-arch:

Front:
- Distance between eyes center to center straight line unloaded - 34 3/4"
- Arch unloaded - 3 3/4" (distance from top leaf to line drawn between the eye centers
- Eye IDs - both ends 3/4" (one end for rubber-metal bushing with 7/16" bolt, the other for the threaded shackle

Rear:
- Distance between eyes center to center straight line unloaded - 40 1/2"
- Arch unloaded - 4 1/2" (distance from top leaf to line drawn between the eye centers
- Eye IDs - both ends 3/4" (one end for rubber-metal bushing, the other for the threaded shackle (same as the front)

Nut side of spring clips should be towards inside of vehicle
Left-hand threaded shackles should go on front left, and right rear springs, with LH thread at spring (not the frame)

All leaf material is 2 1/2" wide, with beveled sides.

Anyone else in the Houston area?

the 1952 M38 CDN (made in Canada by Ford) have 10 leaf front springs and 11 leaf rear springs.
