Unknown marking on 1952 M38

Post by Iraqvet2010 »

Hello everyone! I am a new member to the M, but not new too flat-fender Jeeps. I own a 1953 3B and just bought a 1952 M38 a couple of weeks ago (S/N 61661). I noticed under a coat of terrible black paint and a couple layers of OD, some red and white paint showing thru. After flaking off some more paint, I found a large diamond made up of four smaller red and white diamonds. I know its a long shot but I was wondering if anyone here could help identify what it is. Thanks, Christopher

Thanks a million for your quick reply Brian! I would have never figured that out. It is great to have a little history on the old girl, maybe I will get lucky and uncover some more cool stuff 8) Thanks again, Christopher.

Hi Christopher,
I got lucky. I just started looking for unit insignia and stumbled
across the red and white diamond design.

Sadly, the only thing I've found on my M38 is TP25 in the
wheelwells.

Looking forward to that restored jeep with shiny new
red and white insignia!

Take care,
Brian
