Are cable "zip" ties authentic to use on M38?
Plastic cable "zip" ties invented/patented by Thomas & Betts as "Ty-Rap" in 1958, would they be ok to use or out of place on a 1952 M38 motor pool resto? Thinking of using a few here and there, black only, none of the fluorescent color stuff. Thanks.

If you want to pass her off as a motor pool resto no! I left the military in 1989 and we were not using wire ties yet. Leather or vinyl lacing and clamps was what we were using.

Thanks for the replies. I'm some distance from a true motor pool resto but want to move her in that direction with as much as I can. Already had to "un-do" enough wrong direction stuff for lack of enough research or plain asking.
I learned some harness lacing back in avionics school (early 70's), it was kind of like waxed twine as I recall --- and pretty sturdy old-school look when done with good skill. Hope I didn't kill too many of those brain cells if I can find the material.
This seems pretty close to what I recall:

It's still out there. Today's avionics toads still now how to use it. I still find it on aircraft harnesses when I am chasing wires.
