Willys/Ford hardtop

Post by Speedy »

any information for the Ford hard tops? M38 vintage.

I purchased one a year ago and its disassembled in storage I am sure its just a Willys Overland.

now I just picked up another one, and had a look at the tag and it is Ford Motor Co. of Can. Ltd.

both in great condition few dings
any known production numbers?

The US Built M38 Arctic tops had an ID plate inside with manufacturer's name, ORD part # and contract #. The Canadian M38 Arctic tops should have followed the same regimen. Maybe one of our Canadian members can help here. I would imagine the US Army's M38 Service Kit instructions would have been used as well.

Thanks Wesk.
I think I will dig out my other hardtop.
looks like I am missing a few pieces started a new thread for measurements.
seems like the lock pillars always get left behind!

I tried looking for more information on the ford but cant seem to pull anything up. maybe far fewer were made, only see reference to the Willys

there is one more line one my data plate for the ford then you show above.
can anyone interpret these numbers, would be nice to know what they all mean.

thanks Wesk.
I was thinking maybe somewhere in all that information might have production numbers or more content. but its good to know what all that means now.

I take it the Ford might have more value over the Willys top?

On a CDN in Canada yes. Down here the local grown top would be preferred.
