Heater

Post by Bretto »

Next project:
Heat

This showed up on the porch this evening.
:D:D:D:D:D
I plan on finding a suitable 12v motor to swap in so it will be compatible with my 12v system.

Nope and nope. But I do have full canvas enclosure.
This will be a custom job on par with user RickG's install. He put in the same unit in his.

I put one in my M38. I have to get a multi position switch because it blows air so fast that it blows cool air. Need to slow it down to capture some warm air

I put one in mine also. A great heater! Literally moves my wifes hair on high. You'll want a 180 T stat. Two speed switch is also nice. Rick's custom diffuser so you can direct flow also. If you have the gun rack on the windshield, a defroster is out of the question. You have to rotate the blower to face upwards. I also spaced it away from the front of the toolbox. Originally they moved air through the toolbox and installed a screen to the outside. Mine is all inside air. John

Cool offer there Rick!

Hey John, funny you should mention the air routing. When I first got my M38 I was wondering what the vent was on the side of the Jeep. Mine had a heater at one time long ago. The front of the tool box just had crude drilled holes. #@$%@ that Jeep was ugly. :)

Did you plumb yours hoses like Rick's thru that cover plate or did you go thru the firewall somewhere else?

Bubba had two holes in the firewall under the glove box. I just cleaned them up and installed 5/8 rubber grommets. I"d drill the floor plate if those weren't already there. Go to the downloads here, and there are great pictures of the kit installed. They are in a TM. John

TB 9-2855-7 in the downloads section on figure 5 shows the hoses going straight out of the heater unit direct to and thru the firewall. I don't remeber but it gets me wondering if I closed some holes up that were used for the heater that was there in the past. I can't figure out how to capture a pic from there to post here.

I'm trying to post some pictures of my heater here. So if you don't see it, I screwed up. I used .45 shells to space my heater forward to avoid cutting holes in my tub.http://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules/gall ... .thumb.jpghttp://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules/gall ... .thumb.jpg
