At the memorial service today I witnessed for the first time in my life the formal retirement of our tattered cemetery flag. OLD GLORY had served proudly and it was time. The separation of the stripes from the field and the solemn burning of the red then the white stripes, followed by the burning of the field. Quite humbling..
