Horn rod problem

While trying to find out why my horn stopped working I pulled a real boner and pulled the horn rod out to far and now can't get it back in that tiny hole any one have fix

Remove the horn switch and feed it up from the bottom. Or make a spacer the diameter of the steering column and center the rod in it. With that, feeding the rod from the top should keep it centered and make it finding the hole easier.

what makes it so hard is that there is a long guide tube inside the steering box that the rod has to pass thru. centering rod may help.

A seldom seen solution to this horn rod insertion problem is listed in the G740 ORD 9: Group 0611 "Washer, retaining, horn switch push rod". It is incorrectly drawn in Figure 14-3. It is actually a simple fibre washer about the diameter of the inside of the steering tube. You slide it onto the rod and position it about 16" from the bottom. It acts as a centering mechanism so the rod hits the center of the tube 7375337 (assuming the tube hasn't already been bent, distorted of shoved aside by previous attempts to jam the horn rod past it). ..Brian
