So im ready to crank the L134 engine over after I had it stripped down and put back together but really concerned about just adding oil and cranking it over. Is there certain procedures I should do prior to turning the key and crossing my fingers? I remember something about making sure oil is in certain places but cant find a thread for it. Any help is appreciated.

I also prefer to use two civilian mechanical gages instead of the old military electric gauges for oil press and water temp during initial engine run-in. When the test runs are done connect the two military gauges and see just how accurate or functional they are.

I also recommend a mechanical temp gauge. I just bought a simple over the counter gauge from Amazon.ca or Canadian Tire (can't recall which) for my start up and was glad that I did! It told me that there was temp trouble before I had any idea that an air bubble was sitting in the water pump area and keeping the coolant from pumping. A couple squeezes of the hose was all it needed, but I wouldn't have known if I didn't have the gauge to reference.

I have some other pics and videos from my first startup that aren't on my photobucket account if you'd like me to email them for a quick reference.
