Engine block question

Post by JahRafa »

I have an L-134 engine that I am repairing. Right above the water pump housing it has the numbers 3J54609. I was told that when the engine blocks have numbers there is because they were made for military jeeps. Is this acurate?

Military blocks for the M38 are marked with an MC or RMC prefix (for M38A1 an MD or RMD prefix).

3J serials were installed in the CJ3A and the DJ3A. Had it been a UXXXXX it would have been a station wagon and a TXXXXX would have came in a Pickup.
