There is a Photo / Figure in one of the manuals of the proper position of the oil pump for installing the distributor. It shows the correct position of the slot in the oil pump as viewed down the port for the distributor.
I have seen the figure, I just cannot find it now, have changed computers and hard drives since then and it has gotten lost in the shuffle...
Thanks

Like most questions asked here the answer is easily found in my 100's of detailed technical photos in my photo album. I am the 2nd album and I have an entire sub-album dedicated to distributors and ignition/oil pump timing.

Keep in mind the success of the oil pumps setting depends entirely on the accuracy of your timing marks vs the #1 piston position. If your timing marks are off on the crank then the oil pump will end up incorrectly positioned.

Wes great info as usual. Is there any index for all the photos? I spent close to an hour looking for some reference photos before I gave up. Would be nice to have a listing of what page or a search feature that worked in the albums

There is no search function for the albums that I am aware of. But I did simplify the search process somewhat. My album has 16 pages. Each page except the last page has 20 items on it. The first 3 pages contain 59 of my Sub-Albums. These sub albums have a title that represents their content. There should seldom be a need to go any further then the 3rd page.
In this case in this post I went to page 2 and clicked on this sub-album:
I then chose the sub-album:
