Hi. I finally have the tub off my M38 and I’m trying to identify how much might be original 6/52 or at least period correct. Per the green book the TC manufactured date should be on top near where it mates to the transmission but I don’t see it. I do have what looks like a serial number on top of the driver’s side mounting flange E19*3 where the * is a number that is badly stamped and all I have is a curved top part. I think it may be 0 but could be any of 0,2,8 or 9. On the back of the case is a casting mark 18-15-18 below which is W.O.DIV and below that is hard to read but may be 2 letters then ‘-3’.
Would this be the original TC? Is it possible to date it from the possible serial number?

Thx Wes. As you know I can’t post pictures from my iPad, could I send one direct to you? The * number has a rounded top so I can’t see how any rounded number would work for an M38. Everything else screams M38 so I’m at a loss to understand the number. For what it’s worth the transmission casting is T90A-1.
