Memorial Day coming, Flag mounts?

Post by BB »

Wondering with Memorial Day coming what kind of flag mounts were ever used on a m38? It would be nice to display flags correctly for the vehicle.
Also where might they be found or at least pictured to duplicate?
Thanks as always.

On my M38a1 we zip tie small flags to the hood tiedowns as they are easy to get to and hold the flags nice and vertical. And then we fly a full sized flag from the antenna.

Memorial day is pretty much canceled in my town - because a parade is apparently a breeding ground for corona virus.

Mother nature is sealing the deal with rain all weekend.

That being said - Im using an old pintle safety chain mount to fabricate a mount a flagpole. Ill post some pics when im done.

I made this for my M38

I took a pintle safety chain mount, cut off the ends, welded some steel at a 90 degree angle, then welded square tube at an angle to the side for my fanpole, (www.fanpole.com, highly recommended). Clears the space between the Jerry can and spare tire.

Still need to clean up some of the welds and media blast/paint it but it works. Cost almost nothing and took 20 minutes to make.
