Stick&rudder,
No need for it's condition to remain unknown. Take a pair of jumper cables and connect your +24V to the A terminal of the generator and your - 24V (Negative) cable to the generator's case. If it spins just like an electric motor and has no bad bearing noise it is a good one.

For those, like myself, who were curious to see which is the A terminal, here is a photo linked directly from Wes' album:wesk wrote:Stick&rudder,

Test adapters?
Hi
The test adapters I brought arrived today so I thought I would do
a continuity test on them to see if all is good , are they serposed to
Show continuity on 2 pins one end and only one on the other ,
(Hold red probe frm volt mtr one end ,shows continuity on other black
lead frm volt mtr on two pins ) Not one for one like I thought, if I brake the bridge then no continuity which is right , not familiar with these test
adapters ,the lead extensions are the same , somebody (wes) put me
right , or is this how they work moo,

Chaps "
If any one knows , these pesky adapters for M series wheeled trucks
Befor I use them can someone put me right as to how they allow flow
through , ie like I said should they conduct pin for pin opposite ends ?
or do they branch out to 2 pins opposite end , I ran 12 volts through
them , on one pin (male) and I had 12 volts on opposite end on 2 female
pins when you look at them end for end it apears it should correspond
pin for pin , how , why , am I getting a volt reading on 2 pins one end
When the power probe is on one single pin the other end , surly it should
Be pin for pin , are they made like this or have the set I just paid $325
for been fried" cooked " and the wires in side are shorting out , when you look at the adapters you have one with 3 pins each end and the other with 4 pins
each end , power up one pin on one end and ime getting power on most
pins on the the 4 pin adapter and 2 pins go live on the 3 pin adapter , I don't
want to hook these up to my truck if the genny is going to shoot power down the wrong line due to these if they are faulty" cheers
Wrong line

Test adapters
Hi chaps "
Is it that I asked a dumb question about these test adapters or is it that
no body nows , I don't want to use them if they are no good , running a test
from one end of the adapters to the other on the same corresponding pin
Should in my eyes be the same but ime getting a reading from 2 or more
is that right or wrong " thanks moo

Don't apply DC or AC voltage to them. A simple continuity test with an OHM meter with or without the little beeper is all you need to do. Remember these adapters are not simple connectors. They are specially wired adapters that allow you to access the interior wire runs and allow you to attach assorted test equipment via the middle test pins to the regular circuits/internal wire runs.
In most cases test equipment circuit adapters are not simply a direct connection of the pins at each end. Many have the internal circuit disrupted so you can introduce various test sets to the circuits and conduct various tests some of which only provides read capability to the internal circuit and some which deliberately interrupt or redirect the circuit.
The test sets and the adapters are designed for slightly trained technicians to use in the field who may not be electrical engineers but simply motor pool mechanics that are taught to follow the directions as detailed. The military did not publish the internal wiring diagrams for the test adapters in the user manuals to insure the amount of tampering in the field was minimal. If the adapter failed to provide the correct result it was up channeled for inspection and any needed repairs.
Any field electrician with a thorough knowledge of vehicle circuits and wiring techniques and a strong working knowledge of test equipment and their adapters will seldom have issues with their use.
Hobbyist usually find themselves over thinking issues in their vehicle's electrical systems and the associated test equipment.
The time required to detail each individual circuit function in a set of adapters to help one understand the condition of their new found adapters is significant. Right now the easy route is to follow the test set's instructions carefully in all details and insert your adapter in the troubling circuit. Then follow the testing instructions exactly. By achieving each of the test's desired results you will have certified your adapters in good shape.
