Engine rebuilder in NJ area?

Post by wharf2020 »

Wanted: engine rebuilder in central NJ area.
I've got a '51 M38. With much help from this site, I have completed the frame, diffs, & steering restoration, rebuilt transmission, with overdrive. All painted OD.
My engine has been sitting at a rebuilder for two years. He comes highly recommended, works on mostly high performance stuff.
But time to move on.
Can anyone recommend an engine shop with L134 experience around Burlington, NJ?

Hello Matthew,

Nice to bump into someone from my home state. I was born and raised in Camden till I was 15 and we moved to Williamstown in 1962. I got my first jeep ride in a Jersey National Guard M38A1 radio jeep when I was about 10 when my parent's took us kids to the Camden Armory during a Memorial Day open house. I have been in love with jeeps since then. I still have a few old and newer friends in New Jersey. I asked one of them who has been an MV restorer since the 1980's for a recommendation and he said a good guy for you to contact is Bob Rubino who owns Mil-spec Restorations in 4 Hardwick St, Belvedere, NJ, 07823 908-475-2799.

If Bob is too busy at his shop, there is also Brian Hainer in Connecticut aka
Willys Metalshaper!

@Wes, I used to live in Hawthorne as a kid and went to Middle School and High School in Princeton, NJ. My family had to sell their house in Princeton in 2019 - RE taxes were astronomical! Doesn't work for fixed income...

Great state, terrible politicians and taxes...
